Weill Institute of Neuroscience

Uniting three preeminent UCSF departments, the Weill Institute of Neuroscience will make possible unrivaled excellence in research, graduate education, and patient treatment in the areas of Neurology, Psychiatry, and Neurological Surgery.

Renowned for patient care, research, and their Neuroscience Graduate Program, UCSF needed a building that helped them push the boundaries of innovation and medical care to new heights—all while integrating beautifully into the UCSF campus, and keeping the design human-centered.

Housed in a six-story cutting-edge facility, 100 UCSF faculty members from 17 different leading science and clinical departments have come together to form a world-class cross-disciplinary alliance. The building also contains the UCSF Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases—a multidisciplinary research center focused on finding effective treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders.

The Weill Institute of Neuroscience building also includes state-of-the-art research laboratories, patient clinics, treatment facilities for those with brain and nervous system disorders, and exceptionally designed spaces tailored to suit countless specialized medical and educational needs.
